So a few years ago, I was like 'Hey, I'm going to college, I should probably get a few fancy little pencil skirts for interviews and real life.' Little did I know that in the last 5 or 6 years, I would have to wear a pencil skirt about 4 times. That's it. So now I have a bunch of cute pencil skirts that I don't really need to wear. Maybe I would wear them more if I worked in an office that didn't give the freedom to express my fashionability. But I don't. Hallelujah!
Last night, I decided I wanted to wear one today. I was trying to think of ways to dress it down a bit. I found a longer sheer-ish t-shirt that just didn't look cute. It made it look like I was just wearing a plain old skirt because the shirt was too long. Next, I found a raspberry colored, cropped boatneck baggy blouse that would have looked cute, but it was still way too dressy. Then I tried this look. Skirt, Target tank (my fave), and a lacey shirt (if you can count that as a shirt). I like the way you can still see the whole length of the skirt, the pink shows through to jazz it up, and the crochet top makes it casual and perfect for summer!
Skirt: Express
Tank: Target
Top: Collective Concepts
Shoes: Zara
Earrings: Gas Bijoux
Bag: Bottega Veneta
This is just one way to dress down a pencil skirt. Somehow, they look so dressy, but that can just be too much for everyday sometimes. It's fun to experiment with them, and not to mention they make my assets look fantastic, ifyouknowwhatimean.
Happy hump day!
